After Continued Declines in COVID Hospitalizations, Governor Hogan Announces Additional Stage Two Reopenings

Following fourteen consecutive days of declining hospitalizations, Governor Hogan announced yesterday the resumption of indoor dining and outdoor amusements. Casinos, gyms, and malls will also resume operations on June 19th.

This major development in Maryland’s data-driven recovery plan comes after continued progress on testing as the statewide positivity rate has declined 73% in the last 55 days. With more than 120 testing sites now open across the state, Governor Hogan encouraged anyone who has attended protests to get tested, while recognizing these overwhelmingly peaceful protests in Maryland as a “model for the rest of America.”

Although he urged Marylanders to “remain vigilant” since “the fight against this virus is far from over,” Governor Hogan also affirmed that “Maryland will continue to lead on the road to economic recovery.” Maryland has the eighth lowest unemployment rate in the nation and the lowest unemployment rate in its region.
