After Dramatic Declines in Hospitalizations and Positivity Rate, Governor Hogan Announces Opening of Outdoor Dining, Completion of Stage One

Under Governor Hogan’s results-oriented leadership, Maryland is continuing to make progress towards a gradual, evidence-based recovery.

Yesterday, Governor Hogan announced the completion of Stage One of the state’s recovery plan, resuming outdoor dining at restaurants, youth sports, day camps, and outdoor pools with strict safety guidelines.

These new steps come after another two weeks of continued declines in hospitalizations and the positivity rate. As the state continues to dramatically ramp up testing – already surpassing its goal of 10,000 tests per day with over 16,000 tests completed yesterday – the positivity rate both statewide and in Maryland’s most densely populated counties like Montgomery, Prince Georges, and Baltimore have declined over 50%.

If these encouraging trends continue, Governor Hogan indicated Maryland could move into Stage Two of its recovery plan next week.
