Governor Hogan Announces Record Police Funding As He Honors Law Enforcement

Governor Hogan continues to be a national leader on supporting law enforcement. This week, the Governor commemorated the 100th Anniversary of the Montgomery County Police Department, paying tribute “to all of the proud members of the thin blue line who selflessly place themselves in harm’s way and who do so—willingly and bravely—so that our communities can be safer.”

When progressive politicians were advocating defunding the police, Governor Hogan was the first leader in the nation to announce a Re-fund The Police initiative, successfully passing $500 million of additional funding into law enforcement. Just yesterday, Governor Hogan awarded a record $122.5 million in funding under the State Aid for Police Protection (SAPP) program. Another key plank of his Re-fund The Police initiative, this funding provides police officers with expanded resources to support operational costs and to help keep communities safe.
