Governor Hogan Argues For “Reaganesque, Big-Tent” GOP In New Book

In a new book from Washington Examiner senior political correspondent David M. Drucker, titled “In Trump’s Shadow: The Battle for 2024 and the Future of the GOP,” Governor Hogan expresses his concerns for the future of the Republican party, worrying “the GOP is becoming a balkanized party that cannot win national elections.”

Governor Hogan argues Reagan provided the “optimal” model for the party through his “positive vision for the future” that appealed “to a wider audience.” According to the book, “as someone who has managed to win as a Republican in one of the most reliably Democratic states in the country, the governor is acutely aware of the party’s performance in national elections since Reagan left the White House” with the Republican presidential nominees failing to win “anything resembling a landslide since 1988.”
