Governor Hogan Discusses COVID Relief, Future of GOP on NBC’s ‘Meet The Press,’ CNN’s ‘State of the Union’

Governor Hogan appeared on NBC’s ‘Meet The Press’ and CNN’s ‘State of the Union’ to discuss COVID-19 relief negotiations and the future of the Republican party.

As a lifelong Republican, Governor Hogan argued “common sense conservatives” can be successful nationally if they can separate the message from the “bad messenger” of President Trump. According to Governor Hogan, “we’ve got to move on from the cult of Donald Trump and return to the basic principles that the party has always stood for.”

On Friday, Governor Hogan met with President Biden in the Oval Office to urge him to “lead by finding common ground” with Republicans in Congress on the COVID-19 relief package.

Noting that he was able to pass COVID relief this past week with near unanimous support from Democrats and Republicans in the Maryland legislature, Governor Hogan has asserted “there is no reason why [President Biden] and Republicans in Congress cannot forge a compromise that addresses the nation’s top priorities in this crisis.”
