Governor Hogan Joins CNN and Julie Mason Mornings On Final Full Day In Office

In case you missed it, earlier this week, Governor Hogan joined CNN’s ‘The Lead with Jake Tapper’ and SiriusXM’s ‘Julie Mason Mornings’ to reflect on his eight years in office and his track record of cutting through the toxic divisive politics of the country while getting things done for Marylanders.

On Keeping His Promise To Marylanders: “When I was first sworn in in 2015, I said that ‘the politics that have divided our nation need not divide our state’ and that this was going to be the start of an era of bipartisan cooperation…that I was going to take the best ideas regardless of which side of the aisle they were on. Just bipartisan, common sense solutions, and it works.”

On Why He’s So Popular: “Whether you’re a Republican, a Democrat or an independent, I think they really do like the fact that we’re Republican governors in deep-blue states and that we have to work together to get things done. That bipartisan, common sense solutions being willing to not demonize the other side and to focus on solving problems, it’s very popular in both parties…It’s where most of America is.”

On His Most Proud Accomplishment As Governor: “I know it doesn’t happen very often in politics, but what I’m most proud of is that we did exactly what I said we were going to do. We cut taxes eight years in a row by $4.7 billion. We took the largest deficit in history, $5 billion, and turned it into the largest surplus in state history. We have the biggest economic turnaround in America. More jobs and more businesses than ever. And it really was my primary mission, and why I ran for governor and what I said I was coming there to do. And I’m proud that we did it better than I could imagine.”
