Governor Hogan Outlines Education Proposals; Advocates For The ‘Exhausted Majority’ In Trip Through New England

Last week, Governor Hogan traveled through New England promoting An America United’s four-point education proposal to create alternative pathways to the American dream outside of a four-year college degree and arguing for a better path forward on the divisiveness and dysfunction in Washington.

This comes as Governor Hogan wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal last week on how Maryland has set a national model for how to expand economic and educational opportunities outside of college.

Here’s what they’re saying about Governor Hogan’s trip:

The Harvard Crimson: “Hogan acknowledged the ‘70 percent of people frustrated with both parties,’ but, he said, ‘we’d be better off trying to fix the broken parties.’”

Fox News: “Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan believes that attending ‘prestigious colleges and universities’ is not the only pathway to achieve the American dream.

Instead, the term-limited governor…has been focused on expanding career opportunities ‘outside an expensive four-year college degree’ as part of his push to reduce the costs of post-high school education.”

The Washington Post: “Hogan appeared at Politics & Eggs on Thursday morning, a popular stop for presidential hopefuls at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, and was later scheduled to meet with police officers and home builders…”

The Baltimore Banner: “Much of Hogan’s 20-minute speech and 25 minutes of audience questions stayed with the theme he has been pushing as he travels to states across the country: That the nation’s political system is broken, with too many politicians catering to the extreme left or the extreme right — and neglecting the ‘exhausted majority’ that hopes for a more middle-of-the-road approach.”

WMUR: “Hogan addressed a crowd at the latest installment of the ‘Politics & Eggs’ breakfast at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College and touted some of his accomplishments as governor, citing tax cuts and improved safety.”

Governor Hogan began his trip in Cambridge, MA on Wednesday where he participated in a fireside chat at the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School. Watch Governor Hogan’s conversation about bipartisanship and working across political differences here.

On Thursday, Governor Hogan started his day in Manchester grabbing a cup of coffee at Common Man Roadside Cafe.

Afterwards, the Governor delivered an address to the famous “Politics and Eggs” event at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College. Governor Hogan spoke to the exhausted majority about how to get America back on track with leadership that brings people together to achieve common sense solutions. Later he stopped by and grabbed lunch with the New Hampshire Republican Party and Republican Women hosted by New Hampshire GOP National Committeewoman Juliana Bergeron.

Later in the day, the Governor held a law enforcement roundtable with Hillsborough County Sheriff Chris Connelly and his team to hear about the challenges they’re facing and how we can tackle crime.

Afterwards, the Governor stopped by the Manchester Police Athletic League to tour their headquarters. The Manchester Police Athletic League program is working to foster a positive relationship between Manchester youth and law enforcement by providing athletic programs such as boxing, all coached by cops.

In the evening the Governor spoke to the New New Hampshire Home Builders Association in Manchester and met with fellow home builders.
