“Less Talk and More Action:” Governor Hogan Calls For Federal Government To Follow His Lead on Cybersecurity

Governor Hogan joined both CNBC’s ‘Squawk Box’ and Fox News’ ‘America’s Newsroom’ to explain why he acted to ban TikTok on state devices and to urge the federal government to follow his lead.

On Banning TikTok: “All of the federal agencies have been talking with all of the states about the threats, and yet the federal government has been refusing to take any actions at all. We felt in order to protect our systems we needed to take this action.”

On Protecting America’s Cybersecurity: “This shouldn’t be a Republican or Democrat issue. Our cybersecurity is the most important problem we have right now. We have serious threats from both China and Russia, and we’ve got to make sure we make some progress.”

On The Failure of Washington To Take Action: “It’s similar to what happened during COVID when basically we saw the federal government putting out confusing, conflicting, or delayed information and decisions, and they left it up to the governors. We had to act…We’re in discussions with the federal leaders which is why we took the action because they’re all very very concerned. I can’t tell you what’s going on inside the Biden White House, but I think we need maybe less talk and more action.”
